Description

Associate Superintendent for Operations for Kearney Public Schools to begin July 1, 2025.

 

Kearney Public Schools, a Class A School District serving approximately 6,000 students PK - 12, has an opening for Associate Superintendent for Operations for the 2025-26 school year.  This position has a 260 day contract with competitive salary and benefits. Start date July 1, 2025.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Education:  Master's degree in Education and a valid Administrator's Certificate with at least an Ed.S.
  2. Experience: A minimum of five (5) years in Education with three (3) of these years in Administration. Experience at both Elementary and Secondary levels are preferred. Superintendent’s experience is preferred.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Include, but are not limited to)

 

  1. Supervises and evaluates the Director of Facilities in the operation of the Facilities Department.
  2. Supervises and evaluates the Director of Technology in the operation of the Technology Department.
  3. Supervises and evaluates the Director of Finance in the operation of the Finance Department.
  4. Supervises and evaluates the Director of Food Service in the operation of the School Nutrition Department.
  5. Supervises and evaluates the Director of Transportation in the operation of the Transportation Department.
  6. Supervises and evaluates the district grant writer.
  7. Leads the MTSS Executive Leadership Team
  8. With input from directors, leads the district’s school improvement efforts, teams, and processes across PK-12.
  9. With input from directors, leads the district’s professional development planning and efforts.
  10. In conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, coordinates and leads district teacher and administrative mentoring programs.
  11. Presents annual district budgets in consultation with the Director of Finance.
  12. In conjunction with the Director of Human Resources, assists the Board of Education negotiation team with the negotiations process providing financial forecasts in consultation with the Director of Finance.
  13. Oversees Rule 10 compliance and completes Rule 10 reports.
  14. Conducts annual meetings with non-publics for Rule 14 compliance.
  15. Conducts annual meetings with non-publics to coordinate support and compliance for annual reports.
  16. Completes the Annual Delinquent/Neglected Youth Report in conjunction with Region 3.
  17. Responsible for all state reports and records necessary for transportation.
  18. In consultation with the Superintendent and the Director of Finance, provides oversight on district purchasing processes, budgets, financial records, and audits.
  19. In consultation with the Superintendent and the Director of Finance, provides oversight for receiving, depositing, and investing of all revenues of Kearney Public Schools.
  20. In consultation with the Superintendent and Director of Finance, provides oversight for purchasing, soliciting of bids, placing orders for labor, materials, and supplies of any and all descriptions.
  21. Works with the Director of Finance to correlates business procedures in administering federal funds.  Monitors the financial administration of federally funded programs.
  22. Works with the Director of Finance to provide the Human Resources Department budget information to assist them in the development of the district’s compensation system.
  23. Works with the Director of Human Resources and Director of Finance to initiates the development of a systematic insurance program for the school district which includes: procedures for determining needs and adequacy of coverage; obtaining and evaluating bids or quotes from brokers; recommending contracts to be awarded; and maintaining an insurance file.
  24. Handles risk management (ALICAP) for the district.
  25. Coordinates the district safety trainings through the Vector training platform ensuring all staff have completed the required trainings.
  26. Assists the Superintendent and Director of Facilities in the development of long-range facilities plans.
  27. Assists the Superintendent and the Director of Facilities in the planning and building of all new structures and the remodeling of existing structures.
  28. Provides the Board of Education with data about the cost of pupil transportation.
  29. Oversees the development of a plan for the systematic replacement of all district vehicles.
  30. Responsible for the collection and verification of census data. 
  31. Oversees the preparation of the annual report.
  32. Oversees state reporting submissions.
  33. Oversees compliance assurances through collaboration with other district administrators for State/Federal data reporting accuracy.
  34. Develops and submits to the Superintendent a list of personal/professional educational goals.
  35. Participates as an active and contributing member of the district administrative team.
  36. Stays abreast of current trends, developments, and educational ideas through professional journals and publications and by attending appropriate seminars, workshops, and conferences.
  37. Performs duties and responsibilities of the Superintendent in his/her absence.
  1. Attends all board meetings and board committee meetings as directed by the Superintendent.
  1. Performs and/or assigns staff all duties necessary to the proper discharge of responsibilities designated and such other duties as may be delegated by the Board of Education or the Superintendent.
  1. Performs any other duties assigned by the Superintendent.
  2. Regular, on-time, in-person attendance is required.
