Hours: 40 hours per week  (8 hours per day)

 QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education:  Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Dietary Manager Certification preferred.
  3. Quantity food cooking and serving experience, and safety and sanitation experience.
  4. Possess excellent mathematical, organizational, and basic bookkeeping skills.
  5. Ability to oversee co-worker(s).
  6. Ability to work well with administration, staff and students.
  7. Responsible for breakfast and lunch programs.
  8. Ability to lift 50 pounds.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Include, but are not limited to)

 

Personnel

  1. Schedules co-worker assignments as necessary. Trains co-workers to fill in for manager in their absence
  2. Cooperates with custodians and maintenance when planning, communicating needs or changes from routine events.
  3. Works with building administration regarding any lunch or cafeteria issues.
  4. Handles employee disputes professionally and notifies Director of any concerns.
  5. Works with building principal with any issues or concerns regarding lunch and breakfast program.

Record Keeping

  1. Records checks by name, number and cash money, records in notebook and sends cash and checks to BCD office for entry into students account.
  2. Completes daily productions records.
  3. Tallies daily lunch count and prepares food accordingly.
  4. Ensures that Department of Education and USDA guidelines are being followed.
  5. Notifies director of any work orders that need to be completed.
  6. Records food temperatures and completes appropriate forms, notifying Director when necessary.
  7. Records temperatures of freezer, refrigerator, milk coolers, and adjusts if necessary and completes HACCP records.
  8. Gathers invoices and sends to BCD office daily. 
  9. Makes sure KCLC milk calendar is completed and sends to BCD at end of month.

Ordering

  1. Orders milk supplies from vendor and checks milk supply daily to ensure enough milk is on hand.
  2. Orders menu items from coordinator and checks in items when delivered.
  3. Orders equipment, flatware, trays, etc., as necessary throughout the year.

Safety and Sanitation

  1. Monitors and updates cleaning schedules and enforces their completion.
  2. Enforces wearing of hair restraints and proper attire.
  3. Follows procedures for filing Incident Reports.
  4. Completes taking temperatures according to procedures, and follows through with any concerns.
  5. Complies with Department of Health standards on their annual reports.
  6. Completes annual summer maintenance request forms.
  7. Monitors cleaning and sanitizing of lunch tables; washes off spills on walls by garbage containers.
  8. Washes pots, pans, trays and silverware as necessary.
  9. Responsible for chemicals used in kitchen, knowing each chemical’s use.

 Preparation

  1. Prepares breakfast items following recipes and standardizing them to building needs. Helps serve and/or operates computer POS.
  2. Assists in preparation of lunch items following recipes.  Helps serve and or operates computer POS.
  3. Handles any food situation that may arise.

Other

  1. Locks and unlocks freezers, coolers, doors and cash boxes and is responsible for all keys.
  2. Is able to operate and clean all equipment in the kitchen.
  3. Attends local and state meetings for changes and/or new ideas. Keeps up with continuing education hours.
  4. Assists in daily cleaning of kitchen.
  5. Posts weekly menus and changes daily menu boards.
  6. Works with parents on payment of charges for breakfast and/or lunch, and any other concerns.
  7. Monitors school ensuring the Competitive Foods Rule is being followed.
  8. Helps out where needed and is flexible.
  9. Works with teachers and counselors explaining the lunch program to new students and other situations that may occur.
  10. Works with special groups discussing complaints, ideas, nutritional facts, etc.
  11. Visits with students about food likes and dislikes and monitors plate waste. Relays information to Coordinator and Director as needed.  Helps organize nutritional education and menu planning with Director for interested classes.
  12. Helps supervise students during breakfast and lunch according to building and district policies.  Informs                        principal and Food Service Director of any concerns.
