Hours: 40 hours per week; 2080 hours per year

Must have a good driving record.
Must pass physical and drug test.
Must have or be able to obtain NE CDL and Bus Permit (Paid for by KPS).

 

QUALIFICATIONS:    

 

  1. Education: Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Must be able to pass a DOT physical.
  3. Must be able to comply with company drug & alcohol testing for pre-employment and random testing.
  4. Possesses a current Nebraska Driver's License/CDL & a good driving record.
  5. Substantial computer experience including word processing, spread sheets and data bases.    
  6. Substantial, math, and ten key calculator experience.
  7. Excellent accounting skills including preparing purchase orders, & the ability to work closely with district financial personnel.
  8. Excellent organizational and secretarial skills including phone and radio communication
  9. Excellent people skills for meeting and greeting visitors, administrators, contractors, vendors & patrons.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: (Include, but are not limited to)                     

  1. Answers phones, takes and relays messages.
  2. Operates vehicles and personnel two-way radio communication equipment.
  3. Meets and greets visitors.
  4. Communicates transportation information from attendance centers and parents to appropriate drivers.
  5. Maintains route directions for Regular Education Riders
  6. Prepares department correspondence for SPED.
  7. Maintains records and filing of data for the Transportation department (vehicle insurance, mileage, repairs, & depreciation)
  8. Maintains vehicle insurance information: adding or deleting vehicles, submitting claims and following through with claims.
  9. Prepares and processes purchase orders.
  10. Prepares work orders as necessary for building maintenance and repairs.
  11. Coding of fuel usage monthly report as received from the City of Kearney
  12. Bills activity charges through Trip Direct
  13. Prepares monthly transportation activity and fuel report information for the accounts payable dept. 
  14. Prepares and maintains SPED routes and time tables
  15. Maintains SPED student & vehicle information for end of the year reports
  16. Gathers information for SPED student emergency evacuation, keeping the information current and making sure that all drivers have the necessary information in their “RED” notebooks in their bus.
  17. Communicates with nurses, case managers, teachers, SPED secretaries and the director of special education for information on student specific transportation needs (ex. Seizures, Wheelchairs)
  18. Assists in gathering necessary information, completes and submits the Annual Transportation Report to Central office when requested.

  Miscellaneous Responsibilities:

  1. Monitors office supply inventory and orders material as needed.
  2. Drives routes as needed.
