QUALIFICATIONS:

 

  1. Education:  Minimum of a High School diploma.  Preference – courses or experience in early childhood education such as:
    • twelve (12) semester hours of credit in child development/early childhood education
    • equivalent experience through child care work
    • current Child Development Associate Credential
    • current Nebraska teaching certificate with a K-6 elementary endorsement
  2. Ability to give full focus to supervision of children and their needs.
  3. Ability to model positive language skills and interact with children’s conversations.
  4. Physical ability to manage small children and address their developmental needs.
  5. Ability to engage positively with peers and follow directives of classroom teacher

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Include, but are not limited to)

 

  1. Interacts with full classroom, small groups and individual children to meet lesson objectives.
  2. Supervises students at lunch, playground, and bus areas as directed by the Principal.
  3. Follows curriculum reinforcement as directed by the teacher.
  4. Enforces student behavior procedures as directed by the teacher
  5. Supervises children on field trips and students on buses.
  6. Diapering children as needed.
  7. Attending to children’s medical and hygiene needs.
  8. Prepares classroom materials and set ups as directed by teachers.
  9. Prepares for delivery and distribution of meals and snacks.
  10. Listens to children’s verbal development and reinforces with more language.
  11. Reports areas or incidents where students/staff safety may be a risk.
  12. Observes student performance and shares information with teacher for completing assessments.
  13. Assists students in play areas and when using iPad, iPod & devices.
  14. Attends appropriate staff development activities offered by the district.
  15. Assesses student skills individually as directed by teacher.
  16. Attends to students with sensory and emotional needs.
  17. Monitors students in classrooms and on playground.
  18. Performs other duties as assigned by the Principal.

OTHER REQUIREMENTS: (Intellectual, Sensory)

  1. Accepts responsibility and handles stress appropriately and professionally.
  2. Respects confidential information appropriately.
  3. Knowledge of and compliance with classroom/building policies and procedures.
