EMPLOYMENT TERMS AND SALARY: 15 hours per week. Year round employment. Schedule to be discussed during the hiring process. Flexible hours with majority of hours between Monday and Friday.
Job Description: The Title IC Liaison will be responsible for providing year round supplementary services, such as, but not limited to, interpretation, tutoring and other services as assigned by Migrant Education Coordinator, to middle school and high school students, who are eligible for Title I C. Students to be served also include youth who are not currently engaged in a formal school setting (OSY-Out of School Youth), but who are 21 or under, and have not graduated High School.
This position requires travel within the community, and requires working in varied locations, including homes, schools, community sites, and others.
Minimum Qualifications: A. Education: Associate’s degree, and/or studies in the fields of education, social work, social sciences field. B. Bilingual: Spanish/English. Fluency in oral and written Spanish. C. Experience working with children and families D. Travel: Must be able to travel using a personal vehicle, possess a valid Nebraska State Driver’s License and automobile insurance. E. Preferred Requirements:
- Prior experience in a school setting in a PK-12 institution.
- Currently working towards a teaching degree, social sciences degree.
Essential Job Functions: A. Maintain consistent contact with Migrant Education Coordinator, school personnel and families to communicate student needs and progress. B. Assist in the educational needs of migrant students in the area(s) of school readiness, reading/writing/mathematics, and/or graduation and services to out of school youth. C. Supplement and reinforce instruction according to students’ academic needs as directed by Migrant Education Coordinator, teachers, and/or school counselors. D. Maintain and report accurate records, data, and demographics on students in a timely and efficient manner.
E. Complete weekly logs, schedule, mileage records, and timesheets. F. Attend all required professional development trainings and meetings to ensure effective teaching practices as directed by Migrant Education Coordinator. G. Have knowledge of State and Federal migrant program policies and procedures. H. Provide support services, including but not limited to: tutoring, referrals, guidance in study skills, and interpretation. I. Promote professional attire, good ethics and courtesy among students, families, co-workers and other migrant education staff.
