Duties:  Assisting Occupational Therapists 

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

  1. Education: Minimum of a High School diploma or equivalent.
  2. Excellent organizational and student supervision skills.
  3. Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  4. Ability and desire to work with students with disabilities.
  5. CPR certification required.

 

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: (Include, but are not limited to)

  1. Conducts individualized student activities to carry out IEP therapy goals established by the licensed OT.  Tasks may include hand exercises, eye-hand coordination activities, fine motor activities, and promoting educationally related activities of daily living skills such as fastener management, coat management, and shoe tying.
  2. Provides daily written documentation regarding student activity and progress.
  3. Provides recordkeeping and clerical support for the OT program.
  4. Works cooperatively with OT, building administrators, teachers, parents and other school professionals.
  5. Performs other duties assigned by the OT and teachers with administrator approval.
